Another day of volunteering at Stonefire for hours in a communications class at Brevard Community College turned into a fun day at Stonefire. Kyle, a good friend of mine, and I walked into Stonefire dragging our feet, not looking forward to moving junk out of the back room, sweeping of trash around the building, or even scrubbing off walls that used to be an Firestone Auto Center.
Change of plans turned on us when Maxine, owner and volunteer director, assigned to paint the brick wall outside. Painting didn’t start off that fun due to the wind and a little sprinkle of rain outside. We got ice cream from Space Coast Ice Cream shop down the street and got working. It started off with the wind blowing the wet black paint around and ended with us painting more than just the walls. Little did we know that it would turn into a paint war. Another day of volunteering turned into a fun Sunday morning.
